After these miseries had ceased by the mercy of God, the Blessed Virgin commanded blessed Alan de la Rupe, a famous physician and preacher of the Order of Saint Dominic from the monastery of Dinan in Britain, to renew the ancient society of the Holy Rosary, so that, since this famous society had arisen in this province, a religious from the same province would have the honor of restoring it. This blessed Father began this great work in the year 1460, especially after our Lord Jesus Christ, as he himself relates, said to him one day in the Holy Eucharist, while he was celebrating Holy Mass, in order to persuade him to preach the Holy Rosary: Why then, said Jesus Christ, do you crucify me again? How, Lord? answered blessed Alan, terrified. Sins are what crucify me, replied Jesus Christ, and I would rather be crucified again than see my Father offended by the sins you have committed in the past. And you crucify me again now, because you have the knowledge and what is necessary to preach the Rosary of my Mother and in this way to instruct many souls and to extract them from sin, and you would save them and prevent great evils, and by not doing this, you are guilty of the sins they commit. These terrible reproaches led Blessed Alan to decide to preach the Rosary incessantly.
