Strictly speaking, there is only one type of Rosary fellowship, which consists of 150 Hail Marys. However, due to the fervor of those who practice it, there are three types: the Common or Ordinary Rosary, the Perpetual Rosary, and the Daily Rosary. The Ordinary Rosary fellowship requires that it be recited only once a week. The Perpetual Rosary requires that it be recited only once a year, while the Daily Rosary requires that it be recited in its entirety every day, that is, 150 Hail Marys. None of these Rosaries obliges a person to sin, not even venially, if someone omits recitation, because this obligation is voluntary and supererogatory. However, one should not join a fellowship unless one has the firm intention of reciting it as often as the fellowship requires, without neglecting the obligations of one's state of life. Therefore, when the recitation of the Holy Rosary is at odds with the action to which one's state of life compels one, one should prefer that action to the Rosary, no matter how holy one is. When, in illness, he cannot recite it in whole or in part without aggravating the pain, he is not obliged to do so. When, through legitimate obedience, involuntary forgetfulness, or urgent necessity, he could not recite it, there is no sin, not even a venial one; one does not cease to share in the graces and merits of other brothers and sisters of the Holy Rosary who recite it throughout the world. Christian, if you do not recite it even through mere negligence, without any formal contempt, you do not sin, absolutely speaking, but you lose participation in the prayers, good works, and merits of the fraternity, and through your unbelief in small things and supererogatory acts, you will gradually fall into unbelief in great things and essential obligations, because: He who despises small things will gradually fall. 6 Rose
