All heretics, who are all children of the devil and bear the manifest marks of reprobation, abhor the Hail Mary; yet they learn the Our Father, but not the Hail Mary; they prefer to wear a serpent rather than a crown or a rosary. Among Catholics, who bear the mark of reprobation, they scarcely care for the crown or the Rosary, either neglecting to say it or saying it only lukewarmly and hastily. Even if I were to add no pious faith to what was revealed to Blessed Alan de la Rupe, my experience is sufficient to convince me of this terrible and sweet truth. I do not know, nor do I see how it is possible that so little devotion should seem to be an infallible sign of eternal salvation, and its absence a sign of reprobation. Yet nothing could be further from the truth. We also see men of new doctrines, condemned by the Church today, despite their apparent piety, greatly neglect the devotion to the crown and the Rosary, and often remove it from the minds and hearts of those who approach them. Under the most eloquent pretexts, they refrain from openly condemning the crown, the Rosary and the scapular, as the Calvinists do, but their methods are the more pernicious the more subtle they are. We will discuss this at length.
